Learning objectives:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Unpack social expression and the capacity to identify what makes us unique – the differences, the diversity – in the intersectionality wheel
  2. Develop a critical understanding of our own biases and the role these biases perform in “norm-lizing” practices and ways in which we engage and interact 
  3. Deepen understanding of dynamics of power and identity, and its role in social injustices and unequal treatment and experiences reinforced by un-intersectional lens and practices.
  4. Feel confident to address barriers related to workplace interpersonal relationships and have ideas to overcome exclusion.

What will participants get out of this?

Following this course, participants will have the necessary knowledge and skills to facilitate an inclusive and supportive ecosystem of people working together from different backgrounds.

All participants will: 

  • Receive 12 hours of live facilitation with an experienced trainer and practitioner.
  • Have opportunities to learn with and from 15 other practitioners and researchers from around the world.
  • Access the Fabulous Feminists learning platform to download resources, including recommended readings, and videos, blogs and other resources referenced during the course. 
  • Receive a detailed manual with key terms and handouts, which they can use during the course. 
  • Have an opportunity for a 1:1 chat with the facilitator, to get advice/support on specific research projects during the course.
  • Be invited to join the Fabulous Feminists network.

Tuesdays and Thursdays – 19th November (Session 1), 21st November (Session 2), 26th November (Session 3) and  *Bonus Recap summaries 28th November (1.5 hours)*

This is 3-paced course module with each session taking 3.5 hours with a *Bonus Recap summaries*.

To ensure retention, the participants will be encouraged to undertake peer-based post-reflection activities in pairs.

How much does it cost?

Two prices are available, based on a redistributive pricing model. This means if your organisation has more resources, you’ll pay more so that we are able to fund lower fees and scholarships for individuals who have less resources. The higher rates for Tier 1 help to make sure we can fund scholarships.

About the facilitator Njeri 

A Global South Intersectional Ecofeminist, with 15+ years of experience in International Development – Gender Equality & Social Inclusion (GESI). A seasoned professional in practical Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) approaches. Njeri, an international policy advisor on gender transformation & social justice for inclusive sector transformation in Africa, Latin America, and Asia—is an expert and consultant. A keen on fashion & style, she’s also a brand stylist, coach, and mentor who extends her prowess to women and girls in her networking circles intending to provide work-ready and social-smart style tools.

 

Njeri has authored several publications reflecting on struggles and wins gained from collective localized and inclusive movements. Some of her writing is recorded in the book chapter on REIMAGINING development from local voices and positions – Southern feminist movements in the lead. Another piece of creative writing is Oxrymoron of women’s success in the workplace Equally, she contributes to new forms of knowledge and literature on learning, research, and knowledge management ​​in policy advocacy through co-developing “handholding” practical application step-by-step guides on generating programmatic empirical evidence from tacit and explicit knowledge for best practices and lessons learned.
