An intensive 5-day participatory, virtual course exploring how applied theatre can enhance practice in gender equality and social inclusion.

Learning Objectives
  1. Understand the basic theory of applied theatre
  2. Combine theory and practice in exploring theatre and social change, particularly gender and social inclusion
  3. Discover key practices in applied theatre
  4. Examine specific community work, on gender issues via Applied Theatre methods
  5. Establish how they could integrate applied theatre into their current practice
Who is this for?

This course is suitable for anyone working in gender equality and social inclusion who wants to deepen practice and increase their facilitation skills.

What will I get out of this?

Following the course, participants will a have a deeper understanding of the complex social and political issues that theatre can address, as well as develop the skills and knowledge needed to facilitate inclusive, culturally responsive, and transformative theatre interventions.

The course will be delivered via the Fabulous Feminists learning platform, where participants will have access to all course resources and materials, as well as an invitation to join the Fabulous Feminists network. Participants who successfully complete this course will be issued with a Level 2 certificate from Fabulous Feminists and Cynara.

Co-trainer Aanchal Jain

Aanchal Jain is the founder of India-based research and training organisation Thought Project. She is a trained Gender Consultant and Applied Theatre Practitioner. With over 10 years of experience, she has impacted more than 10,000 participants and collaborated with various organisations, including Cambodian Living Arts, Asia Europe Meeting Foundation, German Embassy and Deutsche Schule Bombay, Playback Theatre Nigeria, Oxfam India, Ashoka University, Mumbai University, Rotary Club of Mumbai, and Brihanmumbai Corporation.

Aanchal’s expertise lies in feminist leadership, women’s issues in India, gender equality, queer affirmative, disability-friendly, and anti-caste frameworks.

How do I sign up?

Next edition: 15th-19th April 2024, plus a preparatory session prior to and a reflection session six weeks after the course. Sign-up for this course is managed via the Cynara platform
